The following content was published on behalf of Bitcoin FilmFest - one of my favourite bitcoin projects. A unique space at the heart of Bitcoin Cinema. The film festival and an awesome hub, connecting moviemakers, creators, artist, cinephiles and video-enthusiasts... The one that I'm happy to work in alongside other volunteers, already for some time now.
Stretching across a mere 35 miles in length and 14 miles in width, Madeira Island is a true hidden gem, and in fact, it may be one of the finest island destinations in this corner of the world. From verdant valleys and seaside cliffs to sky-touching mountains, lush forests, and pristine waters, Madeira presents a slice of paradise closer than ever.
However, it has even more to offer, especially for freedom seekers and fellow Bitcoiners, just like you and me...
See You in Funchal in just a Few Weeks!
Almost echoing Plato's works, the tale of a mystical realm inhabited by a moral and spiritual people once flourishing in an advanced civilization, the story is back to life on Madeira Island through an interesting event called Bitcoin Atlantis.
With an expected attendance of 5,000 individuals, cool satellite events and a great line-up of speakers that includes names like Michael Saylor, Jack Dorsey, and Lyn Alden, Bitcoin Atlantis is promising to be one of the highlights of 2024.
More info can be found here. And NOW, let's get to the most important point of this read:
Why and how is Bitcoin FilmFest connected to it?
The answer is simpler than you think! This March, Bitcoin Atlantis and Bitcoin FilmFest are teaming up to bring their attendees a unique cinematic twist.
📍 Bitcoin FilmFest Mini (aka BFF Mini) is one of the satellite events during Bitcoin Atlantis 2024, which we all are invited to join on March 4 from 3-7 p.m. The admission to it is free!
The program is designed for those of you who are already familiar with BFF's work and for these who have never experienced Bitcoin Cinema before.
It's time for another roadshow, right before the upcoming main edition of Bitcoin FilmFest in mid-April this year!
If this sounds interesting and you are planning to be in Madeira this March anyway, let's see what they are offering there at this 'film-themed mini-fest'.
There have already been several notes about this topic on LinkedIn, Twitter (or X as should I call it these days), and of course on Nostr as well. So, let me quote one of them:
From screenings to debates and meetings with creators, it has it all that connects bitcoin films and culture. We have an interesting program with over 21 points that will help you better understand the enigmatic realm of "Binema"...
Since Bitcoin Atlantis has a list of speakers on their website, for those who know them, it will be easy to spot names associated with bitcoin cinema, who, you bet, will also be special guests at Bitcoin FilmFest Mini on March 4th.
But okay, in case you wonder, what is this Bitcoin Cinema anyway? And whether it always has to be about movies with a prominent orange ₿ right in your face...
As an insider, I can tell you that it's a new dynamic space — the intersection of sound money, entertainment, and education, which NO! does not always have to be directly about Bitcoin!
In the world of Bitcoin Cinema, or as you might say, 'Binema', you'll find a treasure trove of shorter and longer videos, movies, and films — all made by independent creators. These don't solely focus on the history of money or the problems of the current monetary system. Instead, they provide a unique storytelling experience that uncovers the truth! Picture any topic that legacy cinema often tries to hide! Simply anything that will be the opposite of stories filled with lies, political manipulation and social agendas.
🎞️ Here's a sneak peek of what you can expect to watch in Madeira's theatre during Bitcoin FilmFest Mini this March:
- A short film that creatively alters one of the most famous scenes from the iconic Matrix, adding Bitcoin vibes to it.
- A psychological satire inspired by Orwell's 1984, set in the futuristic world of 2052 where Big Brother is portrayed as the protagonist.
- The intriguing story of a rebellious developer who wanted to construct his own autonomous space in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
- A bit of the techno-political documentary that gets much beyond the realm of the 3D/ghost gun movement.
And if that's not enough, there will still be some cool animations, trailers, presentations, and panel discussions with several creators, who, by the way, are Bitcoin FilmFest's ‘frens’. Among them is Alana Mediavilla, who, for example, will share unique insights about her new film, DIRTY COIN, and present its new trailer!
FYI: Note it down — DIRTY COIN will premiere in Warsaw this April. More information can be found here.
⚡ All in all, BFF Mini will be entertaining and informative. It will also give you a taste of expected 'vibes' during the main festival — #BFF24, which will take place in Warsaw, Poland this April (from 19th to 21th), alongside the #EuropeanHalvingParty.
If you haven't heard about it yet, visit their website or active campaign on Geyser Fund to get more details. And since we might also meet in Madeira, let's chat about it in person, both on March 4th and throughout the other Bitcoin Atlantis days.
Bye for now and hope to see you there 🎬🐇
